《你本該做的事》是一部由獨具喜劇天賦的露西亞·凱斯金創作的爆笑另類家庭情景喜劇。琪（露西亞飾）自稱是個“全職家庭主婦”。她過著簡單的生活：吃薯片、拍些奇奇怪怪的 vlog、看情景喜劇，説實話，過去 20 年她就這麼過日子。然而，當她無比依賴的父母意外去世後，琪突然被迫獨立生活。琪將繼承房子，但前提是她必須完成父母留下的“你本該做的事”清單（從“擼狗”到“找份工作”應有盡有）。與此同時，琪那神經兮兮的姨媽凱倫（塞琳·希茲利飾）對這個依賴成性、令人厭煩的侄女毫無興趣，卻又對那棟她認為理應屬於自己的房子垂涎三尺！在每一集中，琪都會處理清單上的一項任務，並被派往拉姆斯蓋特當地居民面前，這些居民會給琪的生活帶來新的理解，但離開時卻希望從未遇到過她。
